Docs Building a tour

Panoramas & media files

Every file a tour uses lives inside the project folder, sorted by type. The media sections of the editor (Panoramas, 3D Models, Image Assets, Video Files, Audio Files and PDF Documents) all work the same way: add files, see them in a grid, delete what you no longer need.

Supported file types

Adding files

  1. Open the section, for example Panoramas.
  2. Press the add button (Add Panoramas, Add Images, Add Videos, Add Audios, Add PDFs or Add GLB Models).
  3. Pick one or more files. They are copied into the matching project folder.

Files keep their original names. If a file with the same name already exists, a number is added: lobby.jpg becomes lobby (1).jpg, then lobby (2).jpg. Files are sorted by name in the grid.

Large files such as long videos are copied in a stream, so they do not have to fit in memory. Keep in mind that everything you add ends up in the exported tour, so smaller files load faster for your visitors.

Panoramas

Panoramas must be equirectangular images: the full 360° × 180° view stretched into a rectangle twice as wide as it is tall (2:1). Most 360° cameras and phone panorama apps can export this format.

  • The first panorama you add automatically becomes the main panorama, the one visitors see first. Change it later in Settings.
  • The main panorama cannot be deleted. Choose a different main panorama first, then delete it.
  • Deleting a panorama also deletes all hotspots placed on it.

Image Assets

Image Assets are regular pictures used inside the tour. The same image can be used in many places:

Use PNG with transparency for hotspot icons and map pins, so they blend nicely into the panorama.

3D Models (GLB)

3D scenes can include models in the binary glTF format (.glb). 3Sixty Studio checks the first bytes of each file, so a .gltf, .obj or other file that was simply renamed to .glb is rejected. Convert other formats to GLB in a tool such as Blender (File → Export → glTF 2.0, format glTF Binary) before importing.

Models keep their own materials and textures. Every mesh in a model becomes solid for walking and clickable in the tour. See GLB models in 3D scenes.

Deleting files safely

Before a file is deleted, 3Sixty Studio checks whether the tour still uses it and lists every place, for example:

  • Icon of hotspot "Door" on lobby.jpg
  • Action of hotspot "Kitchen" on hall.jpg
  • Tour Map image, Image of Tour Map pin #2, Destination of Tour Map pin #3
  • Skybox of 3D scene "Gallery", Texture of object "Wall" in 3D scene "Gallery", Model of object "Chair" in 3D scene "Gallery"

For a panorama, the warning also tells you how many hotspots on that panorama will be deleted with it. If you delete a file that is still in use, fix or remove the references afterwards, otherwise the tour shows a missing image or does nothing when clicked.
